Tutti Frutti

Tutti Frutti
Shop 1-034, QV Urban Market,
QV Building, Melbourne

N had come to Melbourne for his exam and after having lunch with a friend, said he was searching for some ice-cream - there's always room for dessert =) P and I had a big breakfast at home, went to watch Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 at 1pm at IMAX (which by the way, was a fantastic movie! and especially 'cause they were free tickets =P - see Mark's Quality Cakes) and didn't have lunch so we were totally up for some afternoon tea.

We knew Tutti Frutti had just opened up at QV last week - last Sunday we walked past and the line for it was incredible! We decided to go check it out since frozen yoghurt is supposedly healthier than ice-cream =P

You get your own frozen yoghurt and your own toppings and weigh it and pay by the weight - $1.30 for every 50g which we initially thought was a pretty good deal. C had told me about these places in USA and how they were very popular and very cheap there.

There was 6 flavours of frozen yoghurt to choose from - TF Natural, Vanilla, Death by Chocolate, Blueberry, Green Tea and Taro. There were soo many toppings to choose from! - chocolate cheesecake, Reese's peanut butter cups, almond flakes, granola, chocolate wafer stick, oreo bits, fresh strawberries, blueberry compote, raspberry compote, honeycomb bits, Hershey's liquid chocolate... the list goes on I can't remember what else they had!

P got Blueberry and Vanilla frozen yoghurt with strawberries, blueberry compote and a chocolate wafer stick. Turned out to be ~370g $9.60.

He was super happy with his choice of flavours and toppings and said he really liked the idea of picking it yourself but he liked the Cacao Green frozen yoghurt flavours more. They were quite stingy with their toppings when we went though - I guess 'cause they were "2 free toppings" but still! I think price wise, if we didn't have the 2 free toppings, it'd be about the same price - so depends if you're looking for presentation (Cacao Green) or the fun of choice (Tutti Frutti).

I got Taro and Death by Chocolate - was quite a weird mix of flavours thinking back but I always like to mix my ice-cream flavours (eg. Durian and Roche at Il Dolce Freddo gelati =P) I didn't want that much taro but the stick you push down to dispense the frozen yoghurt was a bit stuck and the yoghurt comes out so quickly that it was too late by the time I managed to close it =( That's one downside of doing it yourself - you can't blame anyone but yourself for what you get =P

I went a bit overboard with my toppings lol - honeycomb pieces, oreo pieces, Reece's peanut butter cups, Chocolate Cheesecake pieces and almond flakes. Surprisingly was slightly cheaper than P's - ~350g for $9.20

Can't even see my frozen yoghurt woops =P

The taro tasted like the taro powder/syrup you get in taro milk tea, but I guess that's what you'd expect so I didn't mind that. The Death by Chocolate was VERY chocolatey - I should have got Vanilla or TF Natural with all the chocolatey toppings I wanted. But I enjoyed my cup of frozen yoghurt very much - was very cold and nearly gave me a brain freeze on this cold August afternoon =P

N got TF Natural, Blueberry and Taro frozen yoghurt - he got so much frozen yoghurt that his cost $13, that's like 500g of frozen yoghurt lol.

We were all so stuffed from the frozen yoghurt at 3pm that none of us wanted dinner that night =P

Next time I want to try the other flavours!

8/10
