Koko Black

See Esposito for previous post.

We decided to go elsewhere for dessert since nothing here really fancied us (and it was too expensive =P). We walked along Lygon St and were going to go to Brunetti's but then decided it had disappointed us a few times recently (on separate occasions). And then walked past this restaurant that sells Mark's cakes! <3 E and I both LOVE cheesecakes after our America trip together and were dying for some Mark's cheesecakes. It was 8pm and we were going to sit down when the waiter said "Are you here for dinner?" We said we wanted some dessert, and he said we weren't allowed to just have dessert until 10pm o_Oa serious?! So rude and unaccommodating, considering there were soo many empty tables!

We ended up going to Koko Black and ordered the Winter Spoil to share served with two hot or iced chocolates $24 ($1 extra for iced chocolate). The Winter Spoil is A winter version of our Belgian spoil; caramelised pecan ice cream, chocolate mousse, milk chocolate mud cake, poached quince compote and two chocolates - salted caramel and dulce de leche which would have cost $13.50 and the Iced Chocolate - Our own special iced chocolate blend or fresh espresso, with vanilla bean ice cream, chocolate ice cream and chocolate shavings would have cost $7.75 separately. So we decided to indulge and treat ourselves since it was a good deal anyway =D

Our food didn't come for like 20mins - we thought it was a bit strange since everything should be pre-made already. We finally asked the waiter and they chased it up o_Oa

Winter Spoil

The Winter Spoil was so petite yet delicious! And lucky we ordered the Winter Spoil and not the Belgium Spoil which was chocolate EVERYTHING! The caramelised pecan ice cream and the salted caramel chocolate were my favourite <3 I'm beginning to really love salted caramel goodies (see Lindt Chocolat Cafe). I wasn't a fan of the poached quince compote but it was good to break the chocolatey sweetness a bit. The milk chocolate mud cake was super rich and the chocolate mousse was so fluffy - it's no wonder Koko Black is known as the chocolate masters ^____^

Iced Chocolate

I've always loved the Iced Chocolates here - I'd say it's my favourite Iced Chocolate out of all the dessert places in Melbourne. Love the vanilla bean icecream <3 But it was soo chocolatey that both E and I couldn't finish our drinks... I don't even think I can call this a drink it's a dessert in itself already!

All for $13 each... ahhh heavenly goodness ^____^

  1. Haha I had the Winter Spoil at Koko Black the other day. Everything was nice but really really sweet and rich. The compote tasted somewhat of baby food but finished it off because the salted caramel was so salty.
