Pancake Parlour

Pancake Parlour

It was B's birthday! She initially wanted to go to T.G.I Friday's but when she called to book for a table they said they had a birthday celebration of 60 people booked from 5-9pm =/ well there goes that plan! Ended up deciding to go to Pancake Parlour in Melbourne Central, where people can choose from sweet or savoury =)

P and I decided to share a savoury and a sweet =) We decided this before we got there, but when we looked at the menu we kinda wanted to get 2 sweet ones, but then our senses got to us and we decided to get one of each =P

Our savoury pancake was Cheese Kransky - two cheese kransky sausages served with two fried free-range eggs, two buttermilk pancakes, whipped butter and maple-flavoured syrup $23.50

Cheese Kransky

So strange to eat pancakes with savoury foods - and to add maple syrup to it?! But it is soo delicious! The kransky sausages were delicious with maple syrup! So fricken strange - but I remember when I went to Canada, maple syrup + bacon was super common =)

Our sweet pancake was the "IT!" - combines both the Jamaican Banana and Hot Buttered Walnuts with a choice of cream, vanilla ice-cream or our new chocolate icecream. THIS IS "IT"! $17.90

"IT!"

We had finished our savoury pancake before starting on the sweet - and the vanilla icecream hadn't melted at all! You'd think the warm pancakes would melt the icecream but meh =D And yes they actually gave us fresh bananas! Caramelized =) Though they gave us an overload of walnuts lol - I think if bananas weren't so expensive right now they would have given us more bananas and less walnuts =P never mind!

Their buttermilk pancakes are so fluffy and delicious - whenever we try to make pancakes at home it's never that fluffy inside =( and their pancakes are always so regularly round and not burnt at all - how come it always tastes better at restaurants =( Even when we tried to buy their pancake mix and make it at home it wasn't the same - I think it's more their pan and their regular stovetop boo =(

B ordered a Raspberry & Rhubarb - our home-made raspberry and rhubarb filling between two pancakes with lashings of mascapone cream, icing, sugar and served with a dollop of vanilla ice-cream $17.90

Raspberry & Rhubarb

She said everything else on the menu she can kinda make at home but this one is unique - which is quite true! Their mascapone was delicious with the raspberry - kinda looks like a Doraemon pancake except with different insides =)

J had ordered a regular Apple Cider for $4.90 and turned out to be a baby sized pint!

Regular Cider

So then I decided to order a pint of Apple Cider for $6.90

Pint of Cider

Was at least double the size of a regular! What a rip the regular is =( and what is with restaurants/cafes calling "smalls" REGULAR?? So misleading!

Pancake Parlour is not cheap, but I had a 25% off Entertainment voucher up to $30 so it was basically like B had a free birthday dinner =)

Happy birthday B!

8/10
